| I am new to this forum and was wondering what you thought of the spiritual status of those who believe in salvation by works, whether they are Arminians, Mormons, Buddhists, etc. |

the title of this post should be changed to: are those who believe in salvation by works saved.
Arminians believe in free will or choice. not salvation by works. or at least the methodists do. and we are an arminian tradition even though wesley took fom both arminius and calvin. |

Hi, shepreach. It's been a while.
What if Rev Swaggart's (I love that screen name, that's a hoot! ) point is that Armenians, because they believe in free will, believe in salvation by works by his definition because the act of choosing is a work?
HOpe that makes sense. It makes my head spin reading it back to myself. |

|

One day I chose ... to join the armed forces.
It was the last choice that I made ( until I was honorably discharged ).
Likewise when we choose Christ ( and there is no discharge in the army of God, honorable or other wise ).
In that instant, He becomes our master. We can go AWOL ( absent without leave ) and escape ( sort of ) but we become hunted and the choice to run away is in vain since, when we are captured ( and we would certainly be captured one day ), we will spend time in prison.
When we choose Christ, our life of " choices " ends and He sets a path before us. Then He leads ( chooses for us , like the DOD chooses for soldiers, sailors and airmen ) and we simply follow ( orders ).
After choosing Christ and being accepted by Him, if we begin choosing again ( not running our efforts past Christ (( submission )) or openly disobeying His unction ) we have reached down and picked up our life from the altar, where we each who have placed our life when submitting to Christ, we become disobedient, rebellious and in deep trouble with our Lord.
He knows!
