Robert Palmer's book, Reflections on Biblical Histories is different, to say the least. It is a commentary on parts of the Old Testament, in which he simplifies the subjects. I think in some cases he expects his readers to know not only the Bible, but also other works relating to the Bible, written or taught in the schools, and can be found almost anywhere. If you are looking for same old-same old stuff in Biblical Studies, this is not for you.
His outline for biblical histories is far different from what you have heard of before. It places events and individuals in times that corresponds to the evidence at hand, not where it is most convenient for a popular theory.
His explaination dealing with the first chapter of Genesis, taking it into an understandable and workable model in Historic Geology is fascinating. Creation takes on new meaning. As well do the other subjects presented in Palmer's work.
