Verse 14:"..............of gopher wood". The ark was made, not out of steel, but of wood. This teaches us that "life comes out of death".
Trees had to "die" in order that the "life" of Noah and his family were secured. We read that the Lord Jesus Christ was "a root out of dry ground".
Therefore the whole lesson here is "Substitution", the "death" of one for the "life" of another.

Verse 14:"............rooms shalt thou make in the ark". Rooms here suggest "a place of rest" coming from the root word "Gen" meaning "nest". Rooms are a place of rest and in my Father's house are many mansions (resting places) where surely the redeemed shall have eternal rest.

Verse 14:"............and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch".

Oh what a picture here!
Pitch in Hebrew is the word "Kapher" and it means "to cover". A similar word in our new testament is "atonement" which also means "to cover".

Our sins are "covered" by the precious blood of our Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ. So the ark was covered within and without with pitch. So it is true of our "sin", covered within and without with the precious blood of the Lamb.
Oh, what a book could be written on the word "Pitch".

Verse 16:"..............A window shalt thou make to the ark. One window here and it is finished "above". Does this not remind us to "set your affections on things above, not on things on the earth" (Colossians 3:2).

Those in the ark could only "look up" for an outside view and so we are so admonished "And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads: for your redemption draweth nigh". (Luke 21:28)

Verse 16:".............and the door of the ark". Jesus said "I am the door". There was only one door into the ark and there is only one door into God's Heaven - that is through the Lord Jesus Christ.

Verse 16:"..............thou shalt set in the side thereof". In the side of the ark was the door. Do we see here the piercing of our Lord's side (John 19:34) where it was the way for lost sinners to come into the heart of God.

Verse 16:"...............with lower, second and third stories". Three stories, three lessons.

Our salvation is indeed a three fold salvation. We have been saved from the penalty of our sin. We are being saved from the power of sin and shall yet be saved from the presence of sin. It is a salvation that embraces each part of our three fold make-up; the body, soul, and the spirit.

Genesis 7:1 "And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark, for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation".

"Come thou and all thy house into the ark". Here it is -- an invitation to all. Come into the ark or as we read in the new testament "Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28).

Matthew 24:36: "But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of Man be". In the time of Noah the ark was their shelter from the judgment of God, and so with us. The Lord Jesus Christ is our shelter against the judgment of God.

The Lord told us to look for the Blessed Hope. He encouraged us to be joyful as we await the
Bridegroom who may call us up at any time. Scripture after scripture after scripture instructs us to look to Israel as God's timepiece. Jesus listed the signs of the times for us and we are to recognize them, NOT deny them. We are to know the difference between the church and national Israel and celebrate Israel's future deliverence. Pretribbers strive to obey all of these wonderful things.
